11:00 pm: Whew, back in one piece
We took our first vacation as a family of four, Disneyland of course. I was a little disappointed because last time (8 mo ago) BabyNoise was all-in on Disneyland, loving the characters and sights (not the rides so much). This time she was terrified of ALL the characters, couldn't get a good rhythm of food and nap (due to MilliNoise being so needy and such). Weather was gross, but not gross enough to keep huge crowds away.

I forgot what it was like with an infant along. 45 minutes from the time we got to the car till when we were ready to go -- feeding, changing, changing, packing, blah blah blah. Oy. The double stroller worked well.

Sleeping was hilarious. BabyNoise is used to sleeping on her own in her crib, but we couldn't pack two pack-and-plays so MilliNoise got the pack-and-play while BabyNoise stayed in the bed with us. Well ... she likes (in her crib) to sleep length-ways with her head and feet against the rails and her side up against the head of the crib. In bed ... she slept length-ways with her head and feet against mommy and daddy and her side up against the headboard. The first night I got her head and The Wife got her feet / ass, with bonus kicks to the nose. The second night I got the feet but she only left The Wife 6 inches of the bed.

We're going to try another trip in 4 weeks and possibly move her to a toddler bed before then so it will hopefully go better.

Lots of other stuff happened but mostly mundane, nothing really exciting, I'm tired & didn't get my usual "day off from vacation to recharge before work the next day" so I'll just cut it here.

03:44 pm: 3 songs I need on RB:
It's the End of the World As We Know It (and I Feel Fine) - R.E.M.
My Name is Jonas - Weezer
I'm Not OK (I Promise) - My Chemical Romance

But I really want to wait to see what RB3 does with DLC. If they have re-downloads to add other parts or whatever I want to wait.

Looking forward to seeing you again IRL soon, it's been too long.

06:27 pm: BabyNoise hates it when I'm minecrafting.
Too bad.

I've abandoned my first weenie wood fortress and have holed up inside a mountain I'm slowly hollowing out.

I can has 8 metric tons of gravel. Yay. But I have lots of flint. Coal is scarce. I finally figured out how to use the furnace. It was QUITE UN-OBVIOUS that you had to place it in a wall w/ a block over it. grrrr. So I am making glass out of sand.

I need iron.

Also, I really, really hate the explode-y guys.

08:51 am: What a ripoff
(pun intended)

You'd think after a vasectomy I'd have an easier time getting to the upper end of the tenor range, but noooo.

In other news, Babynoise said "I love you dada" for the first time this morning.

03:48 pm: Things I love
I love the fact that:
1) There's a wikipedia article on Total Party Kill
2) A subheading has 9 root causes
3) Incompetent GM is #1

01:26 pm: Welcome to 2007
I downloaded the civ 5 demo just to see if my poor little laptop would run it. When going to do this I found out it was on Steam. Now, I only had Steam installed once to get the Portal free offer, which I got, but I couldn't get it to run on my machine -- it hates my laptop. I decided to try a couple things, long story short, I got it to run!

I finished the main game of Portal in 3 hrs. I'm proud to say that I never checked online for any hints, although I came real damn close at one point (and hey, what's with never covering the "crouch" key in the tutorial?), but solved that by reloading from a prior saved before I was boned.

I'm sure everyone who would ever played it has already done so, except me, but it really is a great, witty, beautiful game. I didn't even need to break out my real mouse, although I was at the edge of competent with my touchpad.

I was also unaware the guys from Old Man Murray contributed. It's great to see critics become constructive.

Gotta go, science to do...

05:17 pm: Hey all!!!

OK, #1 -- drugs. Drugs good. Pain meds specifically.

Had some minor surgery today, minor not-gonna-have-kids-no-more surgery. It was pretty quick, pretty humiliating (yes just a smidge of what women have to do all the time I know) and not too painful so that's good. Right now I'm feeling it though, hence the pain meds. Anywho, the big challenge will be keeping BabyNoise from jumping on me till I'm healed. I'm supposed to feel 100% tomorrow basically, which is cool.

Anyway, that's going on. Wheeee!! Yes, again the drugs. The Daily Show is even FUNNIER on drugs, which I would think was impossible, but no!

OH OH OH -- I forgot, on the book of faces I haven't mentioned this at all, I just mysteriously posted this video:
